Work Abroad

 global AIESEC

In 60 years AIESEC has created a global membership of 23,000 students and recent graduates; together we form the AIESEC network which you can connect to and use to drive your own experiences. By using AIESEC to discover new environments you will have an incredible experience-our programmes challenge and develop you and we provide you with the support network to thrive in these challenging situations.

What opportunities are there for you?

“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends”

-Maja Angelou

AIESEC has 3000-4000 internships on its internal database at any one point in time, and these are divided into the four pools – management, education, development and technical internships. Every job is unique so it is not possible to guarantee what each type of job will offer you. For paid traineeships your salary will be sufficient to just cover your basic living expenses (including food and accommodation) in the country. Unpaid internships generally offer free food and accommodation, though this may vary from internship to internship. You may be able to arrange for home stays with a host family. These are the general categories and what you can expect.

Development traineeships-These positions will involve you working for an NGO. There are a huge variety of NGOs in the system so there is something for everyone. These positions are not paid, however, accommodation is usually provided. For development placements, prior experience will be helpful, but is not necessary.

Education traineeships-These are teaching positions, usually for langauges. Good English speakers are in very high demand though there are opportunities for other languages. TEFL qualifications are sometimes required but not always. Accommodation and a subsistence salary is usually provided. Education have less stringent requirements.

Management traineeships-These are professional roles with companies ranging from global titans to small local start-ups. You will be paid a salary that matches the costs of the local environment. Management internships have stringent requirements – a relevant degree and prior experience is for the most part necessary, and some companies will only take in finalists.

Technical traineeships-These are for those with a background in IT or engineering. These positions are usually for companies and are paid. Only applicants with relevant backgrounds (in IT/engineering) will be considered.

Special Programmes:

1.       Discover China: This is a specific initiative that offers applicants specific job opportunities in China around development, education and management. It is only available to those who registered at our Careers Fairs.

2.       Discover India: This is a specific initiative that offers applicants specific job opportunities in India around development, education and management. It is only available to those who registered at our Careers Fairs.

3.       Discover Turkey: This is a specific initiative that offers applicants specific job opportunities in Turkey around development and education. It is only available to those who registered at our Careers Fairs.

Where in the world can I work?

AIESEC is based in 1100 universities in more than 100 countries all around the world, so there are a vast amount of opportunities available. Some of the most active AIESEC countries at the moment include India, China and Turkey. In recent years, AIESEC UK has sent people to several countries including Brazil, China, India, Turkey, Indonesia and Ghana. What is essential is that you are flexible about the countries you would like to go to. Because the internships in the database are ever-changing to reflect current global demand, we will not be able to guarantee finding a suitable internship if you only want to work in one specific country.

AIESEC, The world largerst's student organization

posted on 19 Oct 2008 11:20 by aieseclcau

Welcome

AIESEC is the world’s largest student organisation.

Founded in 1948 by students determined that the world would never go to war again, their vision was an organisation that would work towards peace and the fulfillment of Humankind’s potential. We understand that this sounds too-cute-to-be-true but we take it seriously-our aim is not to change the world, it is to empower the young people of the world to change it for the better. We do this by

By connecting people from all over the world to collaborate and work together-present in 100 countries with 23,000 members

By engaging in challenges and opportunities that develop our leadership skills-4000 leadership positions available

By creating rich learning environments where you naturally pick up new values and a broader, more mature knowledge of different cultures and opinions-One global information system that hosts thousands of learning documents, forums and communities

What is AIESEC?

AIESEC

AIESEC is a 60 year old global organisation that develops students into leaders by running and participating in an international exchange program.

AIESEC was conceived to try and help societies understand each other by providing students with the chance to live and work abroad.

Those taking part in AIESEC develop their leadership, business and team skills to such a high standard that they are they are actively sought out by the top organisations across the world business for their outstanding skills and leadership abilities.

AIESEC activates your leadership ability by challenging you to take responsibility and make an impact. Not just at home, but right around the world. Our global network makes global leaders.

No other organisation can offer you such a comprehensive development experience.

Our global exchange program is globally recognised by businesses and institutions as being the most pro-active and ambitious, it is recognised for developing the most talented students in the world

By running this global exchange program AIESECers develop their leadership, business and team skills to such a high standard that they are globally recognised by businesses and institutions as being the most pro-active, the most ambitious and the most talented students in the world. They are actively sought out by these top businesses and organisations because AIESECers have the skills, passion and ability that are needed to be successful in today´s globalised societies.

Set up in 1948 AIESEC was conceived to try and help societies understand each other by providing students with the chance to live and work abroad - by doing so they would go through a powerful development experience which will provide them with high level skills and a global understanding that would serve them for the rest of their lives.

Today in 2007 it has 23,000 members in 1000 universities in 100 countries and territories across the globe. AIESEC realises 5000 exchanges and runs 350 conferences a year together with our 3500 partners. Having existed for 60 years we now have 1,000,000 alumni, but we continue to grow. Most recently we have expanded into Iran and we are preparing to expand into Algeria.

AIESEC activates your leadership ability by challenging you to take responsibility and make an impact. Except that this impact is not just in your local university, not just in your city, nor just you country or continent. We have the network to give you the chance to have an impact on a global level and by doing so, you will go through the most unimaginably powerful development experience and become a global leader.

We are the world's largest student organisation and we are the only one to offer students such a comprehensive development experience.

The AIESEC Way

"Many organisations are working to make a positive impact in our society, as we do.
Each one of them has its own approach, AIESEC´s approach is to develop people by
giving them skills, knowledge and a powerful network to help them become a positive
change agent when they leave university"

We do not aim to change the world, we aim toempower the people who will go out and
change the world.

What We Envision
Peace and fulfilment of humankind's potential.

Our Impact
We have an impact onthe world by using our international platform to enable students just like you to discover and develop their potential.
